U.S. guidelines kept women who could become pregnant out of early drug studies. Research focused on male bodies.
- 1993
A U.S. law required research funded by the government to include women. Studies had already left women out for decades.

The NIH required the studies it funds to consider biological sex. Most lab ranges still did not show separate data.

A Danish study looked at 770 conditions. On average, women received their first hospital diagnosis about four years later in life than men.
